Raising the Bar

(without raising the roof)

The Challenge:

The Creative Studio was overdue for a corporate style refresh, but outdated approaches were limiting the team + eating time without earning impact. Too much effort was going into low-value work, creating bottlenecks, stretched resources + growing tension across the team.

Something had to give.
The status quo wasn’t cutting it anymore.

The game
plan

I brought the team together to reset creative direction collaboratively, evaluating existing styles alongside new references and openly discussing what was working, what wasn’t, or where effort was no longer matching impact.

The right path was clear: the work needed a cleaner style that better showcased each product and that could flex across multiple use cases without losing coherence.

Creative direction before—cluttered, confusing + unusable across all needs

my approach

I focused on clearing the noise—aligning taste, expectations + effort—while creating space for honest, candid conversation. Rather than forcing a direction, I guided the team through open discussion, asking questions, encouraging perspective + making it safe to challenge what wasn’t working so we could move forward together.

Existing imagery the team focused on for defining the new direction

  • Facilitated team sessions to review old vs. new styles + align on a shared visual direction

  • Established clearer creative guardrails to guide decision-making + reduce overthinking

  • Reset expectations around level of effort based on content value + purpose

  • Acted as an active creative sounding board to model judgment, prioritization + restraint

  • Lead the team through the transition with ongoing check-ins + course correction

Putting
it all in motion

The new direction used light + color to carry emotion, simplified formats to expand usability + evolved from the team’s strongest existing work so the shift felt natural + right for our audiences.

The Payoff:

A cleaner, more modern visual style that better matched effort to impact

  • Stronger consistency across outputs while allowing flexibility for multiple use cases

Reduced bottlenecks
+ friction across the entire creative team

rave reviews + rising demand for content in this new direction

A happy team
moving forward
with confidence, momentum + trust
